Counseling & Discipleship Training (CDT)

Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC)

Wheelersburg Baptist is an ACBC certified training center.

Biblical Counseling: Biblical Answers for the Problems of Life

Biblical counseling is targeted discipleship.  It is ministering the Word of God to people challenged with specific life issues. Everyone counsels someone.  Spouses, parents, teachers, pastors, youth workers, church leaders, and health care professionals regularly give advice about a variety of life issues.

The counseling ministry of Wheelersburg Baptist is committed to the absolute sufficiency of the Word of God to address the problems of life.  We believe that the Bible provides real answers for the problems people encounter in life. If a person came to you depressed, heavy with guilt, close to an emotional “breakdown,” anxious, fearful, full of bitterness, with marital problems, or overwhelmed with grief, would you know how to help them using God’s Word?

The goal of Counseling & Discipleship Training (CDT) is to equip God’s people, to minister God’s Word, to those in need.  If you want your counsel to be Biblical, insightful, practical, and helpful to the people you care about, you should prayerfully consider taking CDT.

Wheelersburg Baptist offers Biblical Answers for the Problems of Life through Counseling and Discipleship Training. We provide this training in several ways, primarily through the Fundamentals Training Course (Track One/Track Two) offered January through March of each year. From time-to-time we also host and provide various other training events, such as on-the-road fundamentals training and week-end trainings at WBC and other venues.

Counseling & Discipleship Fundamentals Training: Track One & Track Two

A twelve-week training course is offered each year at Wheelersburg Baptist Church on Monday nights beginning in January and ending in March.  This twelve-week course is either Track One or Track Two of fundamentals training. For example, if Track One is offered this year, then Track Two will be offered next year.  By completing both tracks, you will fulfill the training requirement for ACBC certification.

Question:

Do I have to take Track One before I take Track Two?

Answer:

No, because both Track One and Track Two stand alone, so that either one can be a starting point. Track One is not a prerequisite for Track Two, and vice versa.  The tracks are designed to be complimentary.
